To recognize the need and importance of strategic manufacturing and manpower –IV development, Institute of professional qualifications (TPQI) as the primary agency responsible for developing occupational standard and professional qualifications as a mechanism to enhance the upgrade and productivity of manpower in the country. TPQI has joined with industry and stakeholders to identify the competencies required to prepare a standard industry professionals. “Occupational Standards” means to determine the level of competency in the profession. The certification of skills and expertise of individuals by creating standards to measure performance in order to guarantee. “Professional Qualification” means a certificate of competency and skills of persons working in the occupational standard. This professional qualification will directly benefit the majority of people who are not academic qualified, but with experience and expertise in the occupation.

What’s the Professional Qualification System?

“Professional Qualification System” was developed with the main objective to ensure “competency” standards of occupational manpower to meet the needs of business and industry. It is a certification process in order to be accepted in person the knowledge, skills and abilities based on defined standards.

The Development of National Occupational Standard and Professional Qualification in Logistics

TPQI and RMUTT joint project to develop the National Occupational Standard (NOS) and Professional Qualifications (PQ) in Logistics phase 2 in four areas: (1) international freight (2) Export – Import (3) transportation and (4) warehouse management that is divided into 9 areas: 1. international distribution management, 2. multimodal operation management 3. transit and transshipment 4. goods controls service for export-import 5. export-import management 6. truck for road transport service, 7. dangerous warehouse management 8. Silos management 9. cold storage management. The occupational standards

and professional qualifications conform by the Thailand Professional Qualifications Framework (TPQF) 7 tiers to provide a framework for ASEAN human resources development. NOS-PQ competencies include professional knowledge, skills and attributes desirable in a career total of 128 units of competency which include 41 professional qualifications 2-3-4-5-6-7 tier of TPQF covering 19 occupations such as international distribution officer, international distribution manager, multi-modal operation manager, transit and transshipment customs officer, goods-controlled for export-import officer, export-import manager, truck driver, dangerous warehouse operator, dangerous warehouse manager, silo operator, silo manager, cold storage operator, cold storage manager etc.
